COVID-19 Update – Ecuador & Galapagos

• Travellers aged 2 and above to Ecuador must present ONE of the following:
  1.   A negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hrs prior to arriving in Ecuador, or;
  2.   A vaccination certificate or card providing proof of vaccination against COVID-19  a minimum of 14 days before traveling to Ecuador
• Travellers aged 2 and above to the Galapagos Islands must present at the airport in Guayaquil/Quito before boarding a negative RT-PCR taken 72 hrs regardless of vaccination status.
• Travellers from Brazil or India (transit or origin) must present a negative test RT-PCR taken 72 hours before departure to Ecuador regardless of vaccination status. Passengers arriving from or who have transited through Brazil or India are subject to quarantine for 10 days at their own expense.
• Upon arrival at the airport, all passengers will be required to sign a Traveller Health Declaration form with their itinerary and local contact details.
• If upon arrival a passenger presents COVID-19 related symptoms, despite their antigen test result, they will be evaluated by a health care worker and if needed will be taken to the nearest health center for a full evaluation. If they consider the possibility of infection then they will administer a rapid antigen test. If the result is positive the passenger must do 10-day isolation. If the result is negative then there is no need to self-isolate.
• Travellers in transit to another destination do not need to present negative PCR testing or a digital travel pass.
• Travellers inside Ecuadorian territory are required to use face masks at all times.
• Some lodges, such as Mashpi and Napo Wildlife Center, do require a negative PCR test that must be presented no more than 72 hours before entering.
• Vaccination Progress: Currently Ecuador’s population has approximately 62% that have been administered the first dosage and 54% fully vaccinated.
• Galapagos Islands: The population over the age of 18 is fully vaccinated. Most cruises, hotels, and other services work with local employees already vaccinated.
