We spend 3 days exploring, heading off the beaten track to see little-visited mud brick citadels, gardens, merchant homes and ancient villages. Yazd is a real highlight.
Travelling north to Meybod, we visit the fortress before continuing to Isfahan, the ‘jewel in the crown’. Ample time here to see the many wonderful sights including the magnificent Naksh-e Jahan Square, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Imam Mosque, the Museum of Decorative Arts and more.
Near Isfahan we wander the elegant 14th century mosque at Natanz and then spend a night in the village of Abyaneh. Further north is Kashan, celebrated for its fine ceramic production.
