Traditional souks are teaming with shoppers bargaining for jewellery, frankincense and other commodities. The country is rugged and beautiful with its towering mountains, rugged canyons and wadis and endless dunes. Crumbling forts stand guard over ancient towns and watch over long coastal stretches where, as in centuries past, small colourful fishing boats bob around in the blue waters of the Arabian Sea.

Our 8 day adventure is designed to let you experience the many different facets of this desert nation from the modern, sprawling city of Muscat to the inland city of Nizwa surrounded by a thick palm oasis and some of Oman’s highest mountains. Nearby are ancient mountain villages renowned for their giant forts, traditional markets and wonderful mud-brick architecture.

You will travel by 4WD across rolling sand dunes and stay in a Bedouin style campsite and witness stunning desert sunsets. You can also wander through dramatic wadis and take a dip in picture-perfect natural pools. On the coast you we will get up close with nature at the green turtle reserve at Ras al Jins. Oman has much to offer the adventurous traveller looking for a more traditional Arabia.
